THE Rudd Government will restore live cattle exports to Egypt but only under strict conditions designed to prevent a repeat of the barbaric scenes that halted the trade two years ago. The Minister for Agriculture, Tony Burke, will today announce an agreement between the two governments under which cattle will be slaughtered only at a new abattoir east of Cairo. The cattle will be handled and slaughtered in accordance with international standards for animal welfare, Mr Burke said....
